Introducing VillagePHP

Here’s yet another one of my unfinished projects.

VillagePHP is a next-generation community script focused on speed, security and weight. As a crude parallel, think FaceBook or MySpace. But you’re in charge.

Who would find Village useful?

* Business Communities
* Artist/Design Communities
* Neighbourhood Friends
* School Clubs
* SMEs and Organisations
* Co-operatives/Collectives

Village Features

* Every member has their own profile page
* Login and admin control panel for all members
* Members can set up access privileges to define who can view what
* Members can upload images, audio and video to their own portfolio
* Lightbox system for all member portfolios
* Bulk upload - supports JPG, MP3 and FLV (Flash video) formats
* Automatic thumbnail generation
* Instant messaging with file attachments - extensible MIME support
* Easy-to-use auto-pruning events diary for every member
* Lots of nifty AJAX features
* Each member can hide or show their own secure mailform (email hidden)
* FULLTEXT database searching for friends and members - lightning fast!
* Cross-browser compatible (IE 6+, FF 2+)
* W3C valid code throughout
* Tiny footprint means faster execution and increased flexibility for developers
* Simple enough for coders to strip, extend and customise

Check it out over at http://www.villagephp.com. It’ll be ready for download next week.
